John Gregory Greg Davis

John Gregory "Greg" Davis, age 46, of #4565 Old Dalton Road, Rome, died Tuesday evening, November 17th, 2009 at the residence.
A native of Floyd County, Greg was born on November 9th, 1963, the son of John Damon Davis and Glenda Faye Rickman Shuler. He was a 1981 graduate of Armuchee High School and was a veteran having served in the United States Air Force. Greg was a member of The Church At Northside and was associated with Floyd County Schools as a maintenance specialist. Greg enjoyed mountain bike riding, was an avid NASCAR fan and loved fishing and hunting. Greg was preceded in death by a grandfather, J.W. "Bill" Rickman.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa Sargent Davis to whom he was married on September 16th, 2006; a daughter, Hollie Miranda Davis of Rome; 2 step-daughters, Tiffany Sulsberger and her husband, Scott of Rome, and Jessica Carpenter of Rome; a granddaughter, Lauren Sulsberger; Parents, Glenda and Eddie Shuler of Rome and John Davis of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a grandmother, Sara Rickman of Rome; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Alisa and Ron Elmore of Rome and Marla and Shane Baker of Rome; 1 brother and sister-in-law, Monty and Valerie Davis of Lindale; father and mother -in-law, Randall and Virginia Sargent of Bristol, Tenn; sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Royce McNew of Bristol, Tenn; brother and sister-in-law, Randall Sargent, Jr. and his wife, Margie of Blountville, Tenn. Aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive as do His faithful companion, Max, an Australian shepherd cattle dog.
Funeral services for John Gregory "Greg" Davis will be held on Saturday morning, November 21st, 2009 at 11 o'clock at The Church At Northside with Brad Prater and the Rev. Glenn Studdard officiating with interment to follow in Floyd Memory Gardens. Greg will lie-in-state at the church on Saturday morning from 10 until 11 o'clock.
Greg will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Friday) evening from 5 until 7 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the home of the parents, Glenda and Eddie Shuler, 4569 Old Dalton Road.
The following will serve as active pallbearers, Jeff, Colin and Tim Corbin, Kirk, Mark, Brent, Trey and Jeremy Rickman, Corey Minshew and Doug Studdard. Members of the Floyd County Board of Education Maintenance Department will serve as honorary pallbearers.
