John Franklin Moye, Iii

John Franklin "Johnny" Moye, III, age 59, of 554-B Floyd Springs Road, Armuchee, died Monday evening, September 11th, 2006 at his residence.

A native of Smithfield, N.C., Mr. Moye was born on October 10th, 1946 the son of the late John Franklin Moye, II and the late Muriel Wright Middleton. He had been a resident of Rome since 1971 moving here from Vero Beach, Fla. Mr. Moye was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Army. Johnny served in the Dominican Republic and while serving in Vietnam he suffered severe wounds from an exploding land mine on April 26th, 1966 that caused him permanent disability. Johnny was awarded the Purple Heart, Prcht Badge, AFEM, CIB, and VSM metals. Mr. Moye was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Association, a member of Cherokee Masonic Lodge #66 F&AM and the Low-12 Club. Mr. Moye was married on January 10th, 1971 to the former Sarah Ann Horton who survives.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Moye, 2 sisters, Freda Ann Atkins of Cedartown, GA. and Vera Middleton of Union City, GA.; 2 brothers, James Middleton of Rome and Jimmy Rollins of Selma, N.C. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorial services for John Franklin "Johnny" Moye, III will be held on Friday afternoon, September 15th, 2006 at 5 o'clock at his residence, 554-B Floyd Springs Road with the Rev. Max Carver officiating.
