John Dee Horn, age 84, of #31 Lady Marian Drive, Rome, passed away early Thursday morning, April 28th, 2011 at the residence.
A native of Floyd County, Mr. Horn was born on July 24th, 1926, the son of the late John Nevin Horn and the late Cynthia Elizabeth Higgins Horn. He had spent the greater part of his life in Rome and was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Army. Mr. Horn was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church of Rome and prior to his retirement, he was associated with Bekaert Corp. of Rome. Mr. Horn was preceded in death by a daughter, Joanna Horn.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia McKinney Horn to whom he was married on May 1st, 1943; a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Tony Bryan of Rome; 4 grandchildren, Travis and Bruce Bryan, Stefanie Borgers and Sherri Bryan; 8 great-grandchildren also survive as do a sister, Martha Lee Rogers of Rome. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Horn will be held on Saturday morning, April 30th, 2011, at 10 o'clock from the graveside of Floyd Memory Gardens with Dr. Talmadge Barnes and Dr. Rodger Whorton officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Floyd Memory Gardens.
A Celebration of the Life of John Dee Horn will be held on Sunday afternoon, May 1st, 2011 at 2 o'clock in the Christian Life Center at Friendship Baptist Church at #2283 Calhoun Road, Rome.
