Mr. John Eric Bohanan, age, 71, of Rome, GA, known affectionately as “Ric,” passed away peacefully at his home on September 11, 2024. He was born on September 16, 1952, in Rome.
Ric devoted 34 years of his life to Bekaert, where he retired with pride. He graduated from Model High School and furthered his education at Shorter College, where he was a member of the prestigious, Phi Delta Tau fraternity.
A man who valued family and friendships, Ric enjoyed opportunities to spend time with his loved ones. He had a particular passion for attending Alabama football games, often enjoying these events with friends and spending time with fellow retirees from Bekaert. Additionally, he was a supporter of the Boston Red Sox and avidly engaged in playing Jeopardy, showcasing his love for both sports and trivia.
Ric is survived by his devoted wife, Susan Kiser Bohanan; his mother, Montine Culpepper Bohanan; his sister, Cindy Bohanan Howell; his brother, Scott Bohanan, and his wife, Lisa; his grandchildren, Lennon Bohanan, Andrew Holmes, Matthew Shepard and Allyson Holmes; a great granddaughter, Carter Ann Holmes; as well as several nieces and nephews: Jason Scott Howell, Mandy Howell, and Tyler (Kaitlyn) Bohanan. He shared a special bond with his great niece, Jayda Boykin, and his loyal dog, Cosmo.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis Robertson Bohanan; his father, John R. Bohanan; his son, Dalton Bohanan; and his cherished dog, Skynyrd.
In honor of his life, friends and family are invited to gather for visitation on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, following the visitation, a memorial service will begin at 4:00 PM with Rev. Gary Diggs and Rev. Ricky Studdard officiating at Salmon Funeral Home, located at 2516 New Calhoun Hwy NE, Rome, GA 30161.
