Jessie James "Dj" Williams

Mr. Jessie James “DJ” Williams, age 63, of Rome, GA, passed away of natural causes Thursday, November 25, 2021. He was the youngest child of the late Dave Hampton Williams and Del Monte Colley Williams Conway. In addition to his parents, Jessie was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.

Jessie was a talented auto mechanic for over 40 years. He was employed by Ozment’s Texaco in Rome and Bill Davidson Buick dealership in Atlanta before he started a 25 year career at DJ’s Garage in Rome, where he became known as DJ. Jessie was a die hard “bowtie” (better known as a Chevrolet) man. He always said, “he’d rather walk and tote a Chevrolet hubcap than drive a Ford!” He was also a diehard Dale Earnhardt, Sr. fan and when Dale passed, Jessie became one of Kyle Busch’s biggest fans.

Jessie is survived by his wife of 41 years, Debra Sexton Williams, whom he married January 16, 1981; daughter, Jessica Williams Edwards of Calhoun, GA; sons, Jamie Rose and Eddie Rose, both of Rome; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Roger Martin of Summerville, GA; grandchildren, Ethan Edwards, Will Rose, Hannah Lawson, Lane (Holly) Rose and Dani Rose; great-grandchildren, Cohen Duncan, Kashton Lawson, Everleigh Lawson and Lauren “George” Johnson. His two best buddies, Marvin Ford and Ronnie Towe as well as “adopted family, David and Joy Dorsey and their children four children, Lexi, Olivia, Jordan and Christian, also survives.

Funeral services for Jessie will be held Monday evening, November 29, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. in the Alvis Miller Memorial Chapel of Salomon Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Drummond officiating. Private interment will be held on Tuesday in Spring Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Jessie’s family will receive friends at Salmon Funeral Home Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.

Pallbearers will include Jamie Rose, Eddie Rose, Ethan Edwards, Will Rose, Lane Rose, Marvin Ford and David Dorsey.
