Jessie Emma Mckinney

Mrs. Jessie Pierce McKinney, age 96, of #186 Haywood Valley Road, Armuchee, died Friday afternoon, October 17th, 2008 at the residence.
A native of Floyd County, Mrs. McKinney was born on September 1st, 1912, the daughter of the late Columbus Andrew and Angie Ola Marchman Pierce. She had spent her entire life in Floyd County and was a homemaker. Mrs. McKinney was a member of the Floyd Springs Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by 2 sons, Walter Andrew McKinney on January 13th, 1980 and Danny Rayburn McKinney on November 13th, 2007 and by a daughter, Nell Corbin on July 10th, 2008. Mrs. McKinney was married on November 9th, 1929 to John Berry McKinney who preceded her in death on December 26th, 1992.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Jerry Purdy of Armuchee; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny and Gladys McKinney and Kelley and Teresa McKinney all of Armuchee; 8 grandchildren, Andy McKinney, Mac and Tim Corbin, Lisa Carter, Bridgett and Melinda McKinney, Sherrie Nix and Marcus Purdy. 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Jessie Pierce McKinney will be held this (Sunday) afternoon, October 19th, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. from the graveside of Floyd Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Dan Hyde and the Rev. George Adams officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Floyd Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
Grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as active pallbearers.
