Jerry Eskel Dempsey

Jerry Eskel Dempsey, Sr., age 81, passed away on Feb. 4, 2015. Jerry was born on May 16, 1933 in Rome, Ga. Mr. Dempsey graduated from Model High School in 1951 and served 2 years in Germany in the US Army. He was an Entrepreneur, and was the co-owner of Dempsey Dairies (1987), Dempsey Brothers Real Estate and Rome Truck Parts, Dempsey Brothers Insurance. Mr. Dempsey was President of Georgia Agribusiness in 1987. In 2006 he was selected Business Man of the Year presented by The National Republican Congressional Committee's Business Advisory Council.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Zona Tolbert Dempsey and Bert Jefferson Dempsey; sister, Emma Sue; brothers, Jack, Robert, Charlie and Bert, Jr.

He is survived by his wife Elaine Dempsey of Rome; sons, Jerry (Lisa) Dempsey, Jr of Rome, Barry (Brandy) Dempsey of Rome, Lee (Anna) Dempsey of Gainesville; daughter, Beth (David) Early of Rome; 11 grandchildren, Drew Dempsey, Mary Catherine Dempsey, Kate Dempsey, Annie Dempsey, Allie Early, Carol Anne Dempsey, Macy Early, Parker Early, Mason, Stansell, Ford Dempsey, Carly Dempsey; brother, Bill Dempsey of Rome; sisters, Faye Barnett of Rome and Ann Treadaway, Tennessee.

The family would like to extend many thanks to Floyd Heyman Hospice Care and Carolyn Venable for their excellent care.

The visitation will be on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015 from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home. There will be a 1:00 pm Graveside at Floyd Memory Gardens on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015.
