James S. Brock, age 93, of McDonough, GA. and a former longtime resident of the Everett Springs Community, Armuchee passed away on Tuesday morning, December 3, 2013.
A native of Chattooga County, Georgia, Mr. Brock was born on May 27, 1920, the son of the late Samuel Gordon Brock and the late Ruth Mae Price Brock. Mr. Brock was a longtime resident of the Everett Springs Community before moving to McDonough, Ga. and was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Army. Mr. Brock was a longtime member of the Floyd Springs Baptist Church. Prior to his retirement in 1982, Mr. Brock was associated with Marta Transit in Atlanta, Ga. for 40 years. Mr. Brock was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Wanda Ford in 2001 and Patricia White in 1978, by 2 brothers and 5 sisters. Mr. Brock was married on September 6, 1952 to Gladys Louise Hughes Brock who preceded him in death on September 25, 2005.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Richard Quest of McDonough, GA.; 4 granddaughters, Michell Campbell, Stephanie Brown, Monica Ford and Scarlett Provost; 3 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren also survive as do a brother, Robert Brock of Cohutta, GA. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for James S. Brock will be held on Saturday afternoon, December 7, 2013 at 2 o'clock at the Floyd Springs Baptist Church with the Reverend Dan Hyde and the Reverend Jody Brock officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Floyd Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Brock will lie-in-state at the Floyd Springs Baptist Church on Saturday afternoon where the family will receive friends from 1 until 2 o'clock.
