James Kelly Flowers

Mr. James ‘Kelly’ Flowers, age 65, of Rome, GA, passed away on

Sunday, February 12, 2023.

Mr. Flowers was born on August 1, 1957 to his late parents: James

Flowers and Margaret Jane Kelly Flowers. After graduating from high

school, Kelly went into the United States Army and served as a military

policeman in the 101st Airborne division from 1976-1982. From there,

he worked as head of security for SBI. Kelly worked for The Rome City

Police Department from 1996-2004. He was the only Arson Detective in

Northwest Georgia and was the recipient of Officer of the Year in 1998.

In addition to his career, he loved spending time with his family,

especially his precious grandbabies who he cherished dearly. Kelly

enjoyed playing pool and poker. He enjoyed watching the Atlanta

Falcons, UGA Football and NASCAR. Kelly also enjoyed bird watching

and cooking. Kelly will be remembered as a loving father, brother,

grandfather and friend who will be missed dearly by all who knew and

loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was greeted in Heaven by his son, Charlie

Flowers, sister, Lane Flowers and two of his friends, Bill ‘Guido’ Devlin

and James Little.

Left to carry on Kelly’s legacy are his sons: Adam Flowers and Ben

(Brittney) Flowers; brother, Gordon Anderson Flowers and

grandchildren: Charlie, Wesley and Brooks Flowers. He is also survived

by a number of loved family members and friends

Memorial Services for Mr. Kelly Flowers will be held on Saturday,

February 18, 2023 at 2:00 PM in The Salmon Funeral Home Chapel.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 18, 2023 from

12:00 PM until the service begins at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, Kelly wanted donations be made to his current and

future grandchildren’s college fund.
