Mrs. Irene E. Dunagan, age 82, of #3156 Everett Springs Road, the Everett Springs Community, died Tuesday morning, July 20th, 2010 at Golden Living Center of Rome.
A native of Floyd County, Georgia, Mrs. Dunagan was born on September 22nd, 1927, the daughter of the late Von T. Everett and the late Avis Cummings Everett. She had spent her entire life in Floyd County and was a homemaker. Mrs. Dunagan was an active member of the Everett Springs Baptist Church until her health declined. She loved the Everett Springs Community and her beautiful farm. She enjoyed gardening and treasured her family. Mrs. Dunagan was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde W. Dunagan on May 12th, 1989. She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Survivors include 1 daughter and son-in-law, Yvonne and David Willingham of Everett Springs; 5 sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and Nancy Dunagan of Rome, Doug and Angie Dunagan, Tommy and Becky Dunagan, Alan and Melissa Dunagan all of Everett Springs and Edwin and Pam Dunagan of Armuchee, GA.; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren also survive along with 2 sisters, Pat Johns of Gainesville, GA. and Hilda Mount of Huntersville, N.C. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Irene E. Dunagan will be held on Thursday morning, July 22nd, 2010 at 11 o'clock at the Everett Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Ellis and Rev. Edward E. Holsomback officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Everett Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Dunagan will lie-in-state at the church on Thursday morning from 10 until 11 o'clock.
Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers and Great-grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Mrs. Dunagan will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends on Wednesday evening beginning at 6 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.
Mrs. Dunagan's family would like to thank Ms. Dawn Wynn, our "adopted sister". Dawn was a devoted caregiver for Irene for the last 2 years. The family also appreciates the staff at Golden Living Nursing Center and Dr. Frank Hampton for his support and guidance.
