Irene Florence Selman

Mrs. Irene Florence Davis Selman, age 93, of 930 Haywood Valley Road, Armuchee, died Wednesday afternoon at a local hospital.
A native of Floyd County, Mrs. Selman was born on April 7th, 1913, the daughter of the late Crawford E. and LuElla Drummond Davis. She had spent her entire life in Floyd County and was a homemaker. Mrs. Selman was a member of the New Armuchee Baptist Church where she was a member of the J.O.Y. Club, and the T.E.L. Sunday School Class. Mrs. Selman was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Eula Bell Cordle, Evelyn Cordle, Frances Davis and Marion Eleam and by 3 brothers, Gordon, Howard and J.E. Davis. Mrs. Selman was married on October 1st, 1933 to Roy B. Selman, who preceded her in death in April 1994.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jack Gresham of Armuchee; a grandson, Jay and Anita Gresham of Fairburn, GA.; a grandddaughter, Second Lt. Jennifer and Stephen Baxter of Columbus, GA.; 3 great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Selman will be held on Saturday afternoon, February 10th, 2007, at 2 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Edward E. Holsomback officiating with interment to follow in the family lot of East View Cemetery.
Nephews will serve as active pallbearers include, James, Ray, Johnny, J.C. "Joe", Danny and Gene Davis, James, Raymond, Bob and Bill Cordle.
Mrs. Selman will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel funeral Home where the family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon from 1 until 2 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.
