Howard Carnell Fuqua

August 6, 1922 — February 22, 2008

Howard C. Fuqua, age 85, of # 1632 Old Summerville Road, Rome died Friday evening, February 22nd, 2008 at the residence.
A native of Bartow County, Georgia, Mr. Fuqua was born on August 6th, 1922, the son of the late Robert Lee and Emily Melvinie Brock Fuqua. He had spent the greater part of his life in Floyd County, having lived in Marietta for 20 years where he was associated with and retired from Lockheed. Mr. Fuqua was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church of Marietta, Georgia and Kennesaw Masonic Lodge #33 F&AM. Mr. Fuqua was a World War II veteran having served as a Sergeant in the United States Army serving in the Pacific Theater and having received The World War II Victory Medal, The Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, American Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Fuqua was preceded in death by 2 sons-in-law, Roger Dale Brock on April 27th, 2002 and by Tommy Reeps, and 5 brothers and 1 sister.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Cook Fuqua to whom he was married on May 16th, 1953, 4 daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine Brock, Dorothy Allen, Juanita and Bobby Sewell all of Armuchee and Connie and Dennis Law of Cedar Bluff, Alabama;
6 grandchildren, Shawn Brock, Jacob Swann, Michelle Ozier, Russell Reeps, Denise Garlinghouse and Daniel Law. 7great-grandchildren also survive as do a sister, Vonnie Griffith of Rome. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Howard C. Fuqua will be held on Monday afternoon, February 25th, 2008 at 2 o'clock from the graveside of Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 Honor Guard conducting military graveside rite with Chaplain Hartwell Nolan officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with Floyd Springs Masonic Lodge #166 F&AM conducting Masonic graveside rites. There will be a called communication of Floyd Springs Masonic Lodge #166 F&AM on Monday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. at the lodge for the purpose of attending funeral services for Howard C. Fuqua.
Members of Post #5 Honor Guard will serve as active pallbearers.
For those attending funeral services for Mr. Fuqua please meet at the graveside on Monday afternoon by 1:45 p.m.
Mr. Fuqua will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Sunday) evening from 5 until 7 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.
