Herman Garrard Mcginnis, Sr

Herman Garrard McGinnis, Sr., age 85, of Rome, died Tuesday morning, May 5th, 2009 at a local hospital.
A native of Polk County, Mr. McGinnis was born on March 16th, 1924, the son of the late John Henry and Rossie Lee Miller McGinnis. Mr. McGinnis was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Army and was of the Baptist Faith. Prior to his retirement, Mr. McGinnis was a retired accountant.
Survivors include 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Kathy and Robert Tilly of Manhattan, Kansas and Mary Ann Deville of Dallas, Georgia; a son and daughter-in-law, Garrard and Christine McGinnis of Roswell, Ga.; 3 grandchildren, Ian and Genevieve Deville, and Amelia McGinnis.
Funeral services for Herman Garrard McGinnis Sr. will be held on Saturday afternoon, May 9th, 2009 at 2 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Pittman officiating. Interment will follow in the Cave Spring Cemetery.
Mr. McGinnis will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon from 1 o'clock until the funeral hour.
The following will serve as active pallbearers, Garrard McGinnis, Robert Tilly, Ian Deville, Tim Wheeler and Don McClain.
