Hazel Rebecca Keeney

Hazel R. Keeney, age 84, of Rome passed away on Monday afternoon, December 16, 2013 at Summit of Rome.

Mrs. Keeney was born in Walker County, GA, on January 18, 1929, the daughter of the late James Edward Maner and Lucy Plunkett Maner. She had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County the greater part of her life and was a member of the Blue Pond Baptist Church. Mrs. Keeney was a graduate of Cassville High School and was a housewife and homemaker. She loved working in her yard and reading. Mrs. Keeney was preceded in death by a son, Michael Aaron Keeney, by two brothers, J.W. Maner and James Maner, Jr., and by two sisters, Nell Rogers and Ollie Lee Goss. Mrs. Keeney was married on August 6, 1949 to Grover Columbus Keeney, Jr., who preceded her in death in 1991.

Mrs. Keeney is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Everett Gray of Rome; two sons, Anthony Keeney of Jacksonville, FL, and Byron Keeney of Kingston, GA. Eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Keeney will be held this (Thursday) evening, December 19, 2013 at 8:00 o'clock in the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Baird officiating. Graveside and interment services for Mrs. Keeney will be held on Friday morning, December 20, 2013 at 11 o'clock at Sunset Hill Memory Gardens with Rev. Ray Miles officiating.

The family will receive friends for Mrs. Keeney this (Thursday) evening from 6 until 8 o'clock at the funeral home. At other hours they will be at their respective homes.
