Hazel Clyde Fife

Hazel C. Fife, age 78, of Rome and a former resident of Westwood Circle, Rome died Saturday evening, May 29th, 2010 at a local hospital.

A native of Lowndes County, Georgia, Mrs. Fife was born on October 25th, 1931, the daughter of the late Paul B. and Bessie Elizabeth Rogers DuBose. She had spent her entire life in Rome and was a homemaker. Mrs. Fife was a member of the West Rome Baptist Church where she was a member of the Ruth Sunday School Class and a volunteer at Redmond Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Fife was married on December 25th, 1952 to Neal Gordon Fife who preceded her in death on April 13th, 1999.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Don Echols of Rome; a son, Dennis Fife of Adairsville, GA.; 5 grandchildren, Kim Carlock and her husband, Brian, Kelli Gonzalez and her husband, Luis, Kristin Davis, Joseph Fife and his wife, Joanna and Deanna New and her husband, Jeremy. 4 great-grandchildren and a special niece, Elsie Wooten and her husband, Bud also survive.

Funeral services for Hazel C. Fife will be held on Wednesday morning, June 2nd, 2010 at 11 o'clock at West Rome Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Oates and Rev. Billy Murdock officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Fife will lie-in-state at the church on Wednesday morning from 10 until 11 o'clock.

The family will receive friends this (Tuesday) evening from 6 until 8 o'clock at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel. At other hours they will be the home of Kelli and Luis Gonzalez at # 8 Intervale Drive, Rome.

The following will serve as active pallbearers, Luis Gonzalez, Brian Carlock, Jeremy New, Joseph Fife and Bud Wooten.
