Harold Whitield Quinton

Harold W. Quinton, age 85, of 1 Nest Drive, Rome, GA, passed away Friday, February 4, 2011, at a Fifth Avenue Health Care.

Mr. Quinton was born in Lindale, GA, on September 23, 1925, the son of the late Hollie Clifford and Magnolia Whitfield Quinton. He had been a resident of Floyd County for the greater part of his life and was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Oak Hill Church of Christ. Prior to retirement Mr. Quinton was associated with Georgia Kraft for a number of years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Quinton was preceded in death by a sister and brother, Lillian and Gene.

Mr. Quinton is survived by his wife, Betty Quinton, to whom he was married on April 17, 1948; one daughter Jeannie Cole and her husband, Doug, of Columbus, GA; three sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Janice Quinton of Goldsburg, NC, Tom and Mary Quinton of Big Sur, CA, and Danny and Marlene Quinton of Rome. Nine grandchildren, seven Great-grandchildren and a sister, Betty Bishop of Rome, also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Quinton will be held on Monday at 1:00 o'clock p.m. in the Oak Hill Church of Christ with Minister Bill Brinkley officiating. Interment will follow in the Rome Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Monday from 12 noon until the funeral hour in the Oak Hill Church of Christ.
