Harold Clayton Mathis

Harold Clayton "Clay" Mathis, age 72, of the Youngs Mill Road, Kingston, passed away on Wednesday morning, June 6th, 2012 at his residence

Mr. Mathis was born in Floyd County on December 4th, 1939, the son of the late William Harold Mathis and the late Fannie Lou Byars Mathis. He has spent the greater part of his life in Floyd and Bartow Counties and was a graduate of Johnson High School. Mr. Mathis was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of Mizpah United Methodist Church. Prior to his retirement he was associated with his son-in-law, Chris in the operation of Youngs Mill Refinishing.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Chris of Kingston; 2 sons, Jeff Mathis (Sharon Campbell) of Rome and Jon Mathis of Rome. A grandson, Austin Mathis of Glenco, KY also survives.

Services for Harold Clayton "Clay" Mathis will be held on Saturday morning, June 9th, 2012 at 11 o'clock from the graveside at Mizpah United Methodist Church Cemetery with remarks and poems by Fred Talley. Interment will follow in the family lot of Mizpah United Methodist Church Cemetery, 4055 Kingston Highway. The family will visit with friends at the graveside following the services.
