Gussie Joyce Canada

Mrs. Gussie Joyce Canada, age 73, of #505 North Fifth Avenue, Rome, died Wednesday morning, May 14th, 2008, at a local hospital.
A native of Chattooga County, Mrs. Canada was born on October 14th, 1934, the daughter of the late Rev. Gus Reed and the late Emma Woodall Reed. She had spent the greater part of her life in Floyd County and was a homemaker. Mrs. Canada was a member of the Coosa Valley Baptist Church and was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Thompson. Mrs. Canada was married on October 14th, 1950 to Oscar Canada who preceded her in death in 1981.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Joe Money of Rome; a son and daughter-in-law Bruce and Linda Canada of Taylorsville, GA.; 6 grandchildren, Brandi Carr Couey, Casey Canada, Gabe Holbrook, Heather Warren, Tiffany Robinson and Joseph Money, 8 grandchildren also survive as do 3 sisters, Ruth Grant of Rome, Catherine Dinsmore of Birmingham, Ala. and Gail Canada of Rome and special friends at Fifth Avenue Nursing Home. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gussie Joyce Canada will be held this (Friday) afternoon, May 16th, 2008 at 3:30 p.m. from the graveside of Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with Malcolm Caldwell Canada officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Canada will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Friday) afternoon from 1 until 3 o'clock. At other hours the family will be at the home of the daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Joe Money at 1165 Turners Bend Road, S.W., Rome (the Coosa Community).
