Grady L. King, age 94, of #511 West 10th Street, Rome, passed away suddenly on Saturday night, January 14th, 2012 at his residence.
A native of Pisgah, Alabama, Mr. King was born on September 29th, 1917. He had spent the greater part of his life in Rome and was a graduate of the Oostanaula School and North Georgia Technical College. Mr. King was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Army and also served in the National Guard. Mr. King was a long time member of Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Charles Harris Sunday School Class. Prior to his retirement, Mr. King was associated with General Electric of Rome for 25 years. Mr. King was first married to Virginia Dobson King who passed away in 1952. In May of 1955 Mr. King was married to Emma Evans Adams King who preceded him in death on November 23rd, 2001.
Survivors include 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn Cordle Barnett and her husband, Raymond of Rosedale, Katherine "Katie" Corbin of Rome and Ann Eubanks and her husband, William of Euharlee, GA; a special daughter, Jill Shooks of Rome; 6 grandchildren, John Cordle, Tim Cordle, Angela Berry, Anthony Cordle, Wendy Atchley-Collins and Mark Corbin; 3 great-grandchildren, Priscilla Collins, Avery Berry and Cody Collins. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Grady L. King will be held this (Tuesday) afternoon, January 17th, 2012, at 2 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Reverend Clyde Hampton and the Reverend Scott Lambert officiating with interment to follow in the family lot of New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery at Rosedale with Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 American Legion conducting military graveside rites.
The following will serve as active pallbearers, John, Tim, and Anthony Cordle, Cody Collins, Avery Berry, Lee Burch and K.M. Miller.
