Gordon Webster Kell

June 12, 1928 — September 11, 2008

Gordon W. Kell, age 80 of #4 A Hummingbird Place NW, Rome, died Thursday afternoon, September 11th, 2008 at a local hospital.
A native of Floyd County, Mr. Kell was born on June 12th, 1928, the son of the late John and Rosa Sapp Kell. Mr. Kell was a graduate of Berry Academy received a business degree from Georgia State University and received his Registered Nurse degree from Floyd College. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Marine Corp and was a communicant of the St. Peter's Episcopal Church and a member of the Smyrna Optimist Club. For a number of years Mr. Kell was an insurance agent and prior to retirement served as a Registered Nurse with Floyd Medical Center.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Alison and George Daube of Cumming, Georgia; 1 son, Alan Kell of Rome; a granddaughter, Stephanie Daube, 3 sisters, Pearl Vonderhaar of Conyers, Ga., Wilma Cleveland of Cedar Bluff, Ala. and Virginia Franklin of Columbia, S.C.; 3 brothers, Alvin Kell of Monticello, Ga., Gerry Kell of Clearwater, Fla. and Orin Kell of Rome. Nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Gordon W. Kell will be held on Tuesday evening, September 16th, 2008 at 7 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Ard officiating.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 until 7 o'clock at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home.
