Franklin Eugene Arnold

Franklin Eugene "Gene" Arnold, age 67 of Armuchee, passed away on July 21, 2014.
Gene was born on Oct. 1, 1946 to Henry Thomas Arnold, Sr. and Mamie Lee Hawkins Arnold in Stevenson, AL. Mr. Arnold graduated from Chattooga High School Class of 1964. Before becoming disabled Mr. Arnold was employed at Shaw Industries in Dalton, GA and was an active member at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Armuchee. He served as former Sunday School Director, Choir Director and Youth Sunday School Teacher. He was also active in the Armuchee Elementary and High School Booster Club and PTO. The family would like to thank the Rome Transition Hospice Staff for their wonderful daily care, Chaplain Tim Baird, Sheila Jackson, Kate Crews, Heather Hunt and Carol Turner. A special "Thank You" to Lisa Butler for her weekend assistance. Mr. Arnold was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Mamie Arnold, mother-in-law, Avanell Campbell, brothers, Noah Arnold and Henry Thomas Arnold, Jr., sister, Josephine Cook.
Gene is survived by his wife Joan Campbell Arnold; daughters and son - laws, Denise and Bob Wesson of Summerville, Redonna and Scot Branton of Armuchee, Cyja and Mike Green of Armuchee, Jessica and Kevin Mattox of Armuchee; grandchildren Brien and Baylee Branton of Armuchee and Cy King of Armuchee; father-in-law, Earl Campbell of Armuchee; sisters, Jessie (John) Ivy of Stevenson, AL, Anna (Billy) Isom of Crossville, AL, Kathleen (Lamar) Curvin of Gadsden, AL, Patricia (Dan) Thornton of Lafayette, Ga, Marilyn (Bobby) Patterson of Summerville, GA and Juanita (Jim) Thornton, Lafayette, GA; brothers, Otho (Doris) Arnold of Stevenson, AL, Leon Arnold of Tunnel Hill, GA, James Arnold of Summerville, GA; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 pm at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel with the funeral to follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Rev. Doug Mattox and Chaplin Tim Baird will officiate. Burial will follow at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Bob Wesson, Scot Branton, Brien Branton, Mike Green, Kevin Mattox, and Terry Dobson.
