Frances McNew Carpenter, age 75, of the Alabama Highway, Rome, died Tuesday morning, August 17th, 2010 at a local hospital.
A native of Floyd County, Mrs. Carpenter was born on January 1st, 1935, the daughter of the late J.M. and Ester Gilreath McNew. She had spent her entire life in Floyd County and was a homemaker. Mrs. Carpenter was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. Mrs. Carpenter was married December 23, 1950 to John Marion Carpenter who preceded her in death in 2005. Mrs. Carpenter is also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Laura Carpenter in 1998.
Mrs. Carpenter is survived by a son and daughter-in-law; Danny and Wanda Carpenter of Rome, three grandchildren; Jason Carpenter, Katie and Luke Ramey. Seven great-grandchildren also survive as do a sister, Betty Sue Smith of Rome.
Graveside and interment services for Frances McNew Carpenter will be held on Friday morning, August 20, 2010, at 11 am from the graveside at Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery at Coosa with Dr. Frank Wood officiating.
Mrs. Carpenter will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends on Friday morning, August 20, 2010 from 9am until 10am.
The following will serve as honorary pallbearers and are requested to meet at the graveside on Friday morning by 10:45am; Luke Ramey, Larry Reisner, Gary Cartwright, G.B. Whittle, G.B. Whittle II, Beniah Whittle and D.J. Cartwright.
