Mrs. Fern Lillian Niedrach, age, 92, of Rome, passed away, Monday, January 9, 2017, in a local hospital.
The daughter of the late John and Emma Butler Trautwein, Fern was born on January 5, 1925, in Gerald MO. She met her husband, Kenneth Edward Niedrach, in Saint Louis, MO, while he was stationed at nearby Scott Air Force Base during World War II. After the war, they married on June 16, 1946, and soon migrated south, ending up in LaGrange, GA, where they worked and raised their family. Fern and Ken were married 60 years until his death on February 16, 2007. She moved to Rome in 2012. She lived independently among her many friends in LaGrange and Rome who made her later years active and fulfilling. In addition to her parents and husband, Fern was preceded in death by her beloved daughter-in-law, Sharon Niedrach.
Fern is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Judy Niedrach of The Villages, FL, Mike and Julie Niedrach of Spartanburg, SC, and Jack and Mary Niedrach of Rome. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 12, 2017, at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Robert Brown officiating. Entombment and committal services will be at, 3:00 PM, in the Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange.
The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Murphy Harpst Children's Center, 740 Fletcher Street, Cedartown, GA 30125.
