Mrs. Fannie Lou "Mom" Mathis, age 91, of Winthrop Manor of Rome died Sunday evening, June 24th, 2007, at Winthrop Manor of Rome.
A native of Floyd County, Mrs. Mathis was born on October 30th, 1915, the daughter of the late Ed and Elizabeth Bing Byars. A life long resident of Floyd County, Mrs. Mathis was a long time member of Mizpah United Methodist Church and for many years was associated with Floyd County School System.
Survivors include her husband, William Harold Mathis to whom she married in 1935, 1 son, Harold Clayton Mathis of Kingston, 2 grandsons, Jeff and Jon Mathis both of Rome; 1 granddaughter, Jane Mathis of Cartersville, GA.; 1 great-great-grandson, Austin Mathis of Glencoe, KY. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mathis will be held on Wednesday morning, June 27th, 2007, at 11 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Winstead and the Rev. Roger Canuel officiating. Interment will follow in Mizpah United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The following will serve as active pallbearers, Frankie Kinney, Jarrell Cagle, Danny Drummond, Melvin Grogan, Wendell Fincher and Jim Armstrong.
Mrs. Mathis will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Tuesday) evening from 6 until 8 o'clock.
