Ernest Melvin Gresham

Ernest M. Gresham, age 79, of #203 Laurel Creek Road, Calhoun, GA. and a former long time resident of Rome passed away on Monday morning, October 18th, 2010 at his residence in Calhoun after a long battle with cancer.

A native of Floyd County, Mr. Gresham was born on January 17th, 1931 the son of the late Sidney J. and Lorene Kerns Gresham. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Gresham was a member of the North Rome United Methodist Church, was employed by the Celanese Corp. and prior to his retirement in 1995 he was associated with Lockheed Aircraft. Mr. Gresham was married on December 24th, 1953 to Gloria Reynolds Gresham for 53 years who preceded him in death on December 30th, 2005.

Survivors include his 2 sons, David M. Gresham of New York City, N.Y. and Michael E. Gresham of Rome, GA.; 2 sisters, Faye G. Hewlett of Calhoun, GA. and Mary G. Bruner of Swanee, GA.; 3 brothers, Herbert V. Gresham of Huntsville, Ala., James J. Gresham and Jack W. Gresham both of Rome. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Ernest M. Gresham will be held on Thursday morning, October 21st, 2010 at 11:30 from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Adams officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Gresham will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends on Thursday morning from 10:30 until 11:30. At other hours they will be at the residence in Calhoun.

The following will serve as active pallbearers, Doug Gresham, Vince Gresham, Larry Bruner, Steve Graham, Tony Cantrell, Benjamin Pardo, Ricky and Steve Minshew.
