Emma Lou Griffith

Emma Lou Griffith, age 90, of the Riverside Community, Rome, passed away on Sunday evening, February 6th, 2011 at Summit Health Care.

A native of Paulding County, Georgia, Mrs. Griffith was born on July 30th, 1920, the daughter of the late Eli and Nannie Hite Lewis. She had spent the greater part of her life in Rome and was a member of the Hill Crest Baptist Church where she was a member of the JOY Sunday School Class. For a number of years Mrs. Griffith was associated with Trent Mills and was a homemaker. Mrs. Griffith was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Bessie Roberson and Betty Lewis. Mrs. Griffith was married on December 4th, 1938 to Arthur Lee Griffith who preceded her in death on February 12th, 2009.

Survivors include 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Marvin Griffith and his wife Linda of Rome and Wayne Griffith of Rome; 2 special nieces, Judy Chitwood and Joan Whitener. Other nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Emma Lou Griffith will be held this (Wednesday) afternoon, February 9th, 2011 at 2 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Stanley Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Griffith will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family received friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock.

The following will serve as active pallbearers, Allen Bennett, Charles Dollar, Jerry, Justin, Jason and Jonathan Chitwood.
