Elizabeth Lee Barton

April 17, 1926 — November 10, 2008

Elizabeth "Betty" Barton, age 82, of Cartersville, Georgia and a former long time resident of the Armuchee Community, Rome, died Monday morning, November 10th, 2008 at Maple Ridge in Cartersville.
Mrs. Barton was born in Floyd County on April 17th, 1926, the daughter of the late Willie F. and Jewel Walraven Lynch. Mrs. Barton was a homemaker and a former member of the New Armuchee Baptist Church. After moving to Cartersville, Mrs. Barton became a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church. For several years, Mrs. Barton was associated with 20th Century Gloves of Cartersville and Nantucket of Cartersville. Mrs. Barton was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Barton in 2007. Mrs. Barton was married on June 22nd, 1946 to Rev. Winston Barton who preceded her in death on September 1st, 1992.
Survivors include 1 son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Terrie Barton of Cartersville, GA.; 2 grandsons, Clete and Brac Barton , 2 great-grandsons also survive as do a sister and brother-in-law, Mary L. and Ben Neal of Rome and a niece, Brenda Neal.
Funeral services for Elizabeth "Betty" Barton will be held on Thursday afternoon, November 13th, 2008 at 2 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home of Rome with the Rev. Edward E. Holsomback officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of East View Cemetery, Rome.
Members of the Honor Guard from the Bartow County Sheriff's Department will serve as active and honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Barton will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel of Rome where the family will receive friends this (Wednesday) evening from 7 until 9 o'clock.
