Mrs. Edna J. Corbin, age 83, of Scoggins Road, Big Texas Valley, died early Sunday morning, July 5th, 2009 in Summerville, Georgia.
A native of Murray County, GA. Mrs. Corbin was born on July 21st, 1925, the daughter of the late Joseph W. and Myrtle Parker Gallmon. She had spent the greater part of her life in Floyd County and was a homemaker. Mrs. Corbin was a member of the Armuchee Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Senior Women Sunday School Class. Mrs. Corbin was preceded in death by a son, John Wayne Corbin in 1992, by a brother, Roy Gallmon and by a sister, Annie Mae Corbin.
Survivors include her husband, John Warren Corbin to whom she was married on July 2nd, 1951; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Jimmy Plemons of Rome and Joann and Fred Chapman of Armuchee; 2 sons and 3 daughters-in-law, Ricky and Darrylene Corbin of Rome, Edward and Jackie Corbin of Los Angeles, California and Patsy Corbin of Rome; 1step-daughter, Glennice Parker and her husband, Johnny of Rome; 1 stepson, Eddie Corbin and his wife, Sandra of Rome. 6 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, several great-grandchildren also survive as do a sister, Jewell Crofford of Dalton, Georgia.
Funeral services for Mrs. Edna J. Corbin will be held on Wednesday afternoon, July 8th, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. at Armuchee Baptist Church with the Rev. Jody Brock officiating. Interment will follow in Armuchee Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Corbin will lie-in-state at the church on Wednesday afternoon from 1 until 2:30 p.m. where the family will receive friends. At other hours they will be at their respective homes.
Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers.
