Dorothy Ann Howell

Dorothy Ann "Dot" Howell, age 83, of Rome passed away on Sunday afternoon, May 5, 2013 at Chulio Hills of Rome.

A native of Floyd County, Mrs. Howell was born on November 19, 1929, the daughter of the late James Claude White and the late Gladys Johnson White. Mrs. Howell spent her entire life in Rome and attended Rome Girls High School. Mrs. Howell was a long time member of the North Board Baptist Church where she served in the nursery and at the time of her death she was a member of the New Canaan Baptist Church. Mrs. Howell was associated with Celanese for 18 years and for a period of time was associated with New Morning Day Care. Mrs. Howell was preceded in death by 2 sons, Barry Stephen Howell in 1953 and James Scott Howell in 2006, by 3 sisters, Patricia Roberson, Martha Martin and Jimmie Nell Baker. Mrs. Howell was married on March 28, 1948 to James Wilbur Howell who preceded her in death in 1986.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Tony Adams of Rome; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeff and Gail Howell of Rome and Johnny Howell of Rome; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Howell of Rome;5 grandchildren, Jason Howell, Mandy Howell, Ben Howell, Abby Dees and her husband, Russ and Cassie Camp and her husband, Matt; 5 great-grandchildren also survive as do 4 sisters, Evelyn Dodd (Russell) of Acworth, GA., Mary Grace Meeks (James) of Rome, Jane Doss of Dalton, GA. and Sue Bradley of Tenn.; 1 brother, Tommy White (Sue) of Rome. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Dorothy Ann "Dot" Howell will be held on Wednesday afternoon, May 8, 2013 at 2 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Reverend Ricky Studdard officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of East View Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday afternoon from 12:30 until 2 o'clock at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home. At other hours they will be at their respective homes.

The following will serve as active pallbearers, Russ Dees, Matt Camp, Jason and Ben Howell, Gary Wilson and Tim Brown.
