Doris Eugenia Presley

Doris Peace Presley, age 88, of Burchfield Drive, Rome, GA, passed away on Friday morning, April 5, 2013 at a Rome hospital.

Mrs. Presley was born in Chattooga County, GA, on November 26, 1924, the daughter of the late James Otis Peace and the late Cecil Middleton Peace. She was a graduate of Trion High School and had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County since 1957, moving here from Chattooga County. For a period of time, Mrs. Presley was associated with the Rome Glove Mill and Rome Manufacturing and was a homemaker. She was a member of the New Armuchee Baptist Church and the J.O.Y. Club. She was married on April 18, 1942, to John William Presley and he preceded her in death on December 31, 1993. Mrs. Presley was also preceded in death by a son, Terry Presley, in 2009, by a grandson, Chris Presley, in 2012, by a daughter-in-law, Julie Presley, in 2009, and by a brother, Harry Peace.

Mrs. Presley is survived by a son, Dexter Presley of Rome; three grandchildren, Kim McAdams and her husband, Max, of Rome, Jeff Presley of Scottsville, GA, and Jamie Presley of Dallas, TX; three great-grandchildren, Christine, Matthew and Jacob; one great-great-grandson, Henry; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Presley of Dallas, TX; one brother, Jimmy Peace and his wife, Celia, of Trion, GA; one sister-in-law, Shirley Peace, of Trion. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Doris Peace Presley will be held on Monday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. in the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Miles officiating. Interment will follow in the Green Hills Memorial Gardens in Summerville, GA.

Mrs. Presley will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel; Funeral Home where the family will receive friends this (Sunday) evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. At other hours they will be at the home of the son, Dexter Presley, 117 Berry Forest Drive, Rome.

Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home on Monday by 12:30 p.m. and include Jeff Presley, Jamie Presley, Max McAdams, Matthew McAdams, Mike Holt and Biff Peace.
