Doris Agan Barfield

Doris Agan Barfield, passed away on July 12, 2023, in Centre, AL. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing. Doris was born on August 14, 1945, in Centre, AL to the late L.C Anderson and Nellie Cotton Anderson.

Doris lived a fulfilling life filled with love and joy. She dedicated many years to her career and retired from Spring Manufacturing. Doris's dedication and hard work were truly admirable. One of the things that brought immense happiness to Doris was spending time with her family. She had a deep love for her family and treasured their time together. Doris had a zest for life that radiated through her vibrant personality. She loved to sing and would often fill the room with melodies that warmed the hearts of those around her. The sound of Doris's voice brought comfort and joy to many. Doris loved flowers, her favorite color was pink. Doris enjoyed attending church at New Bethel Baptist Church. Her faith was an integral part of her life and offered her strength during challenging times. The spiritual community she belonged to provided endless support throughout her journey. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Carlton Agan the father of her children; siblings, Clinton Anderson, Harvey Anderson, Mary Hill, Myrtle Sellers, and Annie Mae Dickerhof.

Survivors include her loving husband, Billy Barfield, who brought immense joy to her life. Sons, Dewayne Agan and his wife Christy, and Nick Agan and his wife Lisa. Doris also cherished her grandchildren Bailey (Zoe), Dylan, Austin, and her great grandchild, Lolah who filled her life with happiness, Brother, Lewis (Jean Ann) Anderson, Sisters, Edna Cothran, Shirley Agan (Kenneth), and she is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends. 

To honor Doris's memory and celebrate her life, a visitation will take place at Old Nazareth Baptist Church in Centre, AL, on July 15, 2023. The visitation will begin at 10:00 AM CST, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM CST and burial. Doris's final resting place will be alongside loved ones at Old Nazareth Baptist Church.
