Donald G. "Don" Hare, age 74, of #640 Huffaker Road, Rome, died Saturday morning, February 21st, 2009 at a local hospital.
A native of Wally Forge, West Virginia, Mr. Hare was born on March 2nd, 1934, the son of the late John W. and Alice Lee Iser Hare. Mr. Hare was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Hare was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church of Rome, the American Legion, the Elks Club and the V.F.W.in Texas. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Hare was a self-employed general contractor.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Hawkins Hare, 2 daughters, Pam Fulton of Plano, Texas and Mary Collins of Garland, Texas; 2 step-daughters, Rhonda Crider of Plano, Texas and Susan Barwick of Rome; 1 stepson, Robert L. Allen, Jr. of Kuwait; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren also survive as do a sister, Bonnie Snyder of Cumberland, Maryland.
Funeral services for Donald G. "Don" Hare will be held on Tuesday afternoon, February 24th, 2009, at 1 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Skelton and Dr. Dale LeVan officiating. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery.
The following will serve as active pallbearers, Jeffery and Jeff Barwick, Jonathan Cheatham, John Frank Jones, Ken Allen and J.P. Reed.
Mr. Hare will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel this (Monday) evening from 6 until 8 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.
