Denise Morgan Howell

Denise Morgan Howell, known affectionately as Dee, age 59, passed away on January 28, 2024, in Rome, GA, due to injuries sustained in an automotive accident. Dee was born on November 2, 1964, in Rome, GA to her loving parents, Bobby Jack and Juanita Steed Morgan.

Dee was raised in Floyd County and graduated from Cave Spring High School. Dee's working career spanned many years as a server and bartender. She was not just a professional at her job; she was an expert in creating memorable experiences for her customers. Known for her unwavering dedication and infectious enthusiasm, Dee ensured everyone had a remarkable time under her care. Her smile could light up any room and make customers feel like cherished friends.

Outside of her work, Dee's true passion was spending time with loved ones. She adored the company of her friends and family and frequently sought opportunities to hang out and create lasting memories with them. Whether it was gathering together for a pool party at her beloved farm or embarking on beach vacations, Dee embraced every moment wholeheartedly. Sports held a special place in Dee's heart, especially football. Cheering for her favorite teams brought her immense joy. Her passion for the game ignited lively discussions among friends and allowed her to cultivate deep bonds through shared enthusiasm. Dee’s outgoing nature connected her to countless people throughout her life. She possessed a genuine talent for making others feel welcomed and heard—a testament to the beautiful soul she possessed within. Her warm personality radiated with kindness, compassion, and an unyielding zest for life.

Survivors include her loving husband of 22 years, James 'Jim' Paul Howell, III; parents, Bobby Jack Morgan and Juanita Steed Morgan; sister, Donna Mattman; brother-in-law, Joe Howell; nephews, Todd (Courtney) Simmons; Morgan (Rebecca) Simmons; nieces, Hailey Mattman, Kelsey Howell (Hunter) Barkley and Josey Howell; as well as several other cousins, family members and friends. 

 A celebration of life service for Denise will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Salmon Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, March 10, 2024 from 2:00 PM until the service hour. For those who are unable to attend the service, you can view it through a livestream on her tribute page below. 

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The Network Day Service Center, INC at 402 W 10th St. Rome, GA 30165. This organization held a special place in the heart of Dee.
