Mr. David Keith Stone, age 60, of Rome, passed away on Monday, November 6th, 2023.
The son of the late William Cecil Stone and Shirley Stone Lloyd, David was born in Rome, Georgia on December 7th, 1962. He was a 1980 graduate of Model High School, where he was a part of his cherished 1979 State Championship football team. David was named to the All State team for his senior season.
After high school, David went on to work for National City Bank and Regions Bank. His banking career started at 19 years old through the help of his friend and mentor, Pete O’Dillon. After many years in the banking industry, he continued his career as an account manager for Lamar Advertising, receiving many performance awards during that time. At the time of his death, he was in sales at PaperPack Inc. in Rome, Georgia.
David was dear to everyone who knew him. There was not a time that you ventured out in Rome together without seeing someone he called friend. In addition to his many friends, he leaves behind a family who truly loved him; his mother, Shirley; two sisters, Julie Hall and Kim Rampley Brown (Lowell); and Cheryl O’Neal, a very special friend. Other survivors include his nieces and nephews; Daniel Brown (Michelle), Rebecca Morgan (Jeff), Sarah Herndon (Taylor), Anna Lively, and Jackson Lively (Kelsey), as well as five great-nephews. Also left behind to cherish the memories made throughout the years are David’s brothers not by blood, but by heart; Keith Holloway, Eddy Ashworth, and Ramey Salmon.
He was preceded in death by; his father, Cecil Stone; stepfather, Mather (Bobby) Lloyd; brother-in-law, Ronald (Ron) Hall; and his beloved Abby. We know that she met him at the gate with her tail wagging as soon as she heard his name called.
David was truly one of a kind and will be missed terribly. To celebrate his life, the family and friends will gather for a visitation on Friday, November 10, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Salmon Funeral Home. A private graveside service will take place at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens at a later date. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to their favorite charity in David’s name.
