David H. Trott, age 86, of #25 Boxwood Lane, Rome, died Wednesday afternoon, January 2nd, 2008, at his residence.
A native of Belmont County, Ohio, Mr. Trott was born on June 28th, 1921, the son of the late Albert Trott, Sr. and the late Beatrice Trott. He had been a resident of Rome since 2000 moving here from Miami, Florida and was of the Methodist Faith. Mr. Trott was a veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam having served in the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Trott entered the Army Air Corp in February 1941, graduated from flying school as a S/SGT Pilot in October 1942, was promoted to Flight Officer in July 1943, promoted to 2nd LT. in January 1944, promoted to L/Col in September 1965 and retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Lt./Col. in July of 1967. He flew more than 100 missions over the "Hump" in Burma, China. Mr. Trott served as a corporate pilot for Goodyear Aerospace in Akron, Ohio and was associated with Goodyear International in Miami, Florida serving South America as a Product Support Manager. Mr. Trott was married on June 15th, 1949 to Marie Catherine Becker Trott, who preceded him in death on May 23rd, 2006.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Stacey and Tom Harris of Rome; 2 grandchildren, Catherine "Casey" Harris and Tommy Harris. Nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service for David H. Trott will be held this (Friday) afternoon, January 4th, 2008, at 4:30 p.m. from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Dr. David Campbell officiating. Military honors will be conducted at the Chapel by Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 Honor Guard. Private interment will be in St. Mary's Memorial Rose Garden on Saturday.
