Clinton D. Culberson, age 81, of #266 Bells Ferry Road, Rome, died early Wednesday morning, January 30th, 2008 at a local hospital.
A native of Bartow County, Georgia, Mr. Culberson was born on May 12th, 1926, the son of the late James B. and Ida Lou Venia Morrow Culberson. He had spent the greater part of his life in Floyd County and was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Mr. Culberson was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Army and prior to his retirement he was associated with Galey & Lord for 35 years. Mr. Culberson was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Culberson and a sister, Jewell Monteith.
Survivors include a sister, Vivian O. Varner of Rom; 2 brothers, Woody Culberson of Rome and Wendell Culberson of Cedar Bluff, Ala. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Culberson will be held on Saturday afternoon, February 2nd, 2008 at 2 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Jackie Culberson and Rev. Steve Morrow officiating. Interment will follow in Snow Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 Honor Guard conducting military graveside rites.
The following will serve as active pallbearers, Jerry, Jason, Gerald and Daniel Culberson, Ben Norris and Lamar Varner.
Mr. Culberson will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Friday) evening from 6 until 9 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.
