Claude Clifford Terhune

Claude Clifford Terhune, Jr. age 74, of #360 Mt. Alto Road, Rome, passed away on Saturday morning, June 25th, 2011 at a Rome hospital.

A native of Floyd County, Mr. Terhune was born on June 28th, 1936, the son of the late Claude Clifford Terhune, Sr. and the late Thelma Jane Alexander Terhune. He had spent his entire life in Rome, attended Spring Creek School, McHenry School and was a 1954 graduate of Pepperell High School. Mr. Terhune was a very active member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Rome, where he was a former Chairman of Deacons, former Trustee, former Sunday School director, former Chairman of Buildings and Grounds, former Chairman of Personnel and Pulpit Committee, former Chairman of Baptismal and Lords Supper Committee. Mr. Terhune was a Gideon and very active in the Home Builders Association of Rome. Mr. Terhune was a well-known Rome businessman having owned and operated Terhune Electric of Rome for 45 years.

Survivors include his wife, Bettie Hobgood Terhune to whom he was married on December 8th, 1956; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Sheree and Mike Shore of Cedartown, Lori and James Pilgrim of Rome, April and Jeff Kenerly of Zebulon, GA.; a son, Claude Clifford "Cliff" Terhune, III of Rome; 7 grandchildren also survive as do a sister, Donna Baldwin and her husband Butch of Rome and 1 brother, Ray Terhune and his wife, Paula of Rome. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Terhune will be held this (Monday) afternoon, June 27th, 2011 at 2 o'clock at the Calvary Baptist Church with a grandson, the Rev. Josh Pilgrim and Rev. Frank Wood officiating. Entombment will follow in the Oaknoll Mausoleum. Mr. Terhune will lie-in-state at the Calvary Baptist Church this (Monday) afternoon from 1 until 2 o'clock.

Grandsons and sons-in-law will serve as active pallbearers.

The family received friends on Sunday evening at the Calvary Baptist Church from 5 until 8 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.
