Clara "Corine" Hamilton

Mrs. Clara “Corine” Hamilton, age 90, of Rome, GA, passed away Thursday evening, April 29, 2021, in a local hospital.

Mrs. Hamilton was born on March 3, 1931, in Scottsville, GA, where she grew up and lived the early part of her life. She was the daughter of the late Murton and Tennie Boswell Scott. Mrs. Hamilton was along time member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She worked for over 44 years at Klopman Mills, retiring in 1995. Mrs. Hamilton loved working in her yard, growing gardens and listening to Gospel Music. She was likely to head to the beach at anytime and was a lover of animals. Mrs. Hamilton was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Hamilton on February 22, 2016, whom she married in 1949. Also preceding her in death was a grandson, Ty York, son-in-law, Gary York, two sisters, Rebecca Scoggins and Rosa Lee Landrum, and four brothers, Miles Scott, Wilburn Scott, Wofford Scott and Clarence Scott.

Mrs. Hamilton is survived by a daughter, Teresa York; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Dr. Sue Hamilton; granddaughter and her husband, Leigh and Sean Gregory; great-grandchildren, Clara, Shelby, Zion and Autumn; great-great-grandson, Lennon. A host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hamilton will be Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Graves officiating. Interment will follow in Morning View Cemetery.

Mrs. Hamilton’s family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Calvary Student Ministries, 101 Broadus Road, Rome, GA 30161.
