Margaret Christine Nolan

Margaret Christine Mealor Nolan, age 89, passed away Christmas morning at a local healthcare facility. 


Mrs. Nolan was born January 5. 1935 in Ellijay, Georgia to the late Leamon Mealor and Ruby Davis Mealor. She moved to the Celanese village in Rome with her family at the age of ten. 


Mrs. Nolan was a graduate of Rome High School. After several years of staying home with her young children, Mrs. Nolan began working in Memorial Library at Berry College. She worked for a number of years as Administrative Assistant to the Director and following her "retirement " from the Library, she continued to work in the Institutional Research Department, finally retiring after 43 years of service. She was a long-time member of North Broad Baptist Church, serving the church in many capacities, especially enjoying the years she sang in the choir.


Mrs. Nolan dearly loved and was proud of her entire family and told them often how much she loved them. She loved her church family and being a part of the Berry College community. 


In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nolan was preceded in death by her first husband Max Blankenship, her husband of almost 60 years J.D. Nolan, her son Jeff Nolan, and her sister Betty Bishop. She is survived by her two daughters Patrice Nolan White ( Michael) and Barbara Blankenship Earle (Kenneth) and by her son Thomas Blankenship (Janet); her daughter in law, Tara Nolan and her brother in law, Bill Bishop. Also surviving are her eight grandsons ; Ryan Barnes (Kristen), Corey Nolan, Russell Nolan (Griffin), Nick Nolan, Mac Earle (Tara), Danny Earle ( Olivia), Matthew White (Meghan), and Patrick Blankensip, eleven great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 


The family would like to express their gratitude to Denise Booth for the genuine and compassionate care she gave their mother over the past two years, especially these last days of her life and to the Memory Care community at Riverwood Assisted Living Center.


Services for Mrs. Nolan will be held on Monday December 30th at North Broad Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 12:30 pm and the funeral service being held at 2:00 pm. Internment will be immediately following the service at East View Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.


Donations may be made to North Broad Baptist Church in Memory of Mrs. Nolan.
