Charlotte Ann Burns

March 11, 1928 — April 10, 2012

Charlotte Nix Burns, age 84, of #390 Warren Road, Rome, passed away on Tuesday eveing, April 10th, 2012 at her residence.

A native of Gordon County, Georgia, Mrs. Burns was born on March 11th, 1928, the daughter of the late Gaston H. and Leone Knight Nix. She had spent the greater part of her life in Floyd County and was a homemaker. Mrs. Burns was a member of the Mt. Berry United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and a member of the J.O.Y. Club at New Armuchee Baptist Church. She loved sewing, traveling, fishing and spending time with family and friends. Mrs. Burns was married on December 17th, 1949 to Buren Lamar Burns who preceded her in death on January 28th, 2002.

Survivors include 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Lamar and Peggy Burns of Armuchee and David and Becky Burns of Armuchee; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Wanda and Ricky Shelley of Largo, Florida and Karen Law of Rome; 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 brother, Julian Nix of Rome. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Charlotte Nix Burns will be held on Saturday morning, April 14th, 2012, at 11 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Steve Story officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

Grandsons will serves as active pallbearers, Bradley, Kevin and Jeff Burns, Stephen and Gregory Shelley and Daniel Law. Honorary pallbearers will include granddaughters, Robin Burnett, April Burns and Melissa Law, a family friend, Sheila Smith and a niece Shelia Fuller.

Mrs. Burns will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Friday) evening from 6 until 8 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.
