Charles William, "Boy", Martin, age 71, of Kingston, GA, passed away Monday morning, July 3, 2017, in a local hospital.
A native of Rome and Floyd County, Charles was born on June 18, 1946, the son of the late Charles Lewis Martin and Beatrice Rose Martin. He was associated with Galey and Lord of Shannon, GA, for a number of years until their closing. Charles retired in 2008 from Evans Construction then worked part-time with the Floyd County Public Works. He enjoyed cattle farming in his early years, was an avid fisherman and loved to hunt.
Charles is survived by his wife, Gail Graves Martin, whom he married on June 9, 2001; three daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy "Angie" and Ronald Dickerson of Adairsville, GA, Misti and Thom Mobbs of Armuchee, GA, and Christie and Richard Hutchins of Adairsville; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles Lewis "Chad" Martin, II, and his wife, Rhonda, of Kingston; three step-daughters, Kimberly Ray of Rome, Angela Watson and Misty Rayburn, both of Coosa, GA; one brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Paige Martin of Kingston; two sisters-and brothers-in-law, Linda and Marvin Lingerfelt and Nancy and Ray Perry, all of Rome. Thirteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon, July 6, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. in the Carl Sidwell Chapel of Salmon Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Cowart officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
Charles family will receive friends at Salmon Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Salmon Funeral Home.
