Carl Wayland Burkhalter

Wayland Burkhalter, age 78, of Rome, passed away on Sept. 13, 2016. Wayland was preceded in death by his two sisters Barbara Sue Burkhalter and Patricia Ann Cline. Mr. Burkhalter was retired from the US Navy and Vietnam Veteran. He was a member of the VFW, Elks Lodge and American Legion. He loved to play golf in his free time.

Wayland is survived by his wife Glenda Gail Burkhalter; three sons, Carl (Gail) Burkhalter, Jr., Earl (Carisa) Burkhalter, Thomas (Deana) Burkhalter; daughter, Susan West; two stepsons, Dennis Winston and David Winston; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and sister, Ginger Aburn.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home. There will be a graveside service on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016 at 10:00 am at Floyd Memory Gardens.
