Bobby Joe Hill, age 68, of 180 Woodrow Wilson Way, Merrill Gardens, Rome, died Thursday morning, February 1, 2007, at a local hospital.
A native of Floyd County, Mr. Hill was born on May 3rd, 1938, the son of the late A.D. and Rosa Clark Hill. Mr. Hill was a Vietnam Veteran and served for more than 20 years in the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps. Following his retirement from the Marine Corps, Mr. Hill served as a State of Georgia Correctional Officer. He was married on June 18th, 1962, to Hazel Pilgram Hill who preceded him in death in 1986.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Navy Commander Sandra Jamshidi and her husband, Darius of Yokosuka, Japan; 2 grandchildren, Alexander and Catherine Jamshidi, 2 sisters, Barbara Morley of Canada and Patsy Hollis of Rome. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Hill will be held on Wednesday afternoon, February 7th, 2007, at 2 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Dr. Drew Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Morning View Cemetery with Shanklin-Attaway American Legion Post 5 Honor Guard conducting military graveside rites.
The following will serve as active pallbearers, Ricky, Clint and Cody Benefield and Jerret Allen.
Mr. Hill will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Tuesday) evening from 6 until 8 o'clock.
