Billy Joe Silvers, a cherished member of the Rome, Georgia community, passed away on October 9, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on June 8, 1938, in Silver Creek, Georgia, Billy lived a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to his family and hobbies.
Billy was a passionate individual who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was known for his deep love for his family, particularly his beloved “grandbabies,” often being the source of a smile or a laugh within the family circle. His humor was legendary, delighting everyone around him with his knack for telling jokes, reflecting his immense sense of fun and joy for life.
Throughout his life, Billy had various interests that brought him happiness. He took immense pride in caring for his yard, relishing in the beauty and tranquility it provided. An avid fishing enthusiast, he often embraced the great outdoors, spending countless hours by the water. Billy was also an animal lover, always showing compassion and warmth to all creatures great and small.
Billy’s creativity shone through in his hobbies as well; he engaged in jewelry and wood making, showcasing his artistic talents. His cherished 1976 El Camino was a symbol of pride and nostalgia, a testament to the fond memories associated with it. He also enjoyed many meals at the Waffle House, relishing the familiar comforts of good food and warm conversations.
He is survived by his beloved daughters, Carol Brooks (Karl) and Kathy Silvers, along with his cherished grandchildren: Adam Sutton (Katie), Braden Sutton-Zickafoose (Zachary), Seth Parker, and Katie Parker. He will be remembered fondly by his great-grandchildren: Isaac, Ryleigh, Adam, Kaiden, Braxton, Korbin, Porter, and Knox, all of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
Billy was predeceased by his devoted wife, Elizabeth Crumley, and four siblings, each of whom held a special place in his life.
A visitation for Billy will be held on October 15, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Salmon Funeral Home, located at 2516 New Calhoun Hwy NE, Rome, Georgia. Following the visitation, a funeral service will commence at 2:00 PM at the same location, with interment taking place at Floyd Memory Gardens at 3:00 PM.
