Beverly Juanita Carden, longtime resident of Roswell, GA, and Rome, GA, died at her residence March 15, 2014. She was 72 and succeeded to heart failure following a brief illness.
Beverly was born in Cartersville, GA, on January 13, 1942 to Ernest Watson Jenkins and Opal Floyce Daniel Jenkins. She was married to Samuel F. Carden and blessed with the birth of Gary Frank Carden on September 15, 1955. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Gary and a brother Richard Wayne Jenkins. She is survived by her brother Jimmy Jenkins of Marietta, GA, nephew Jason Jenkins of Spokane, Washington; sister Amber Culp of Rome; several special cousins, and innumerable friends.
Beverly was a graduate of Mercer University and taught composition in the DeKalb and Fulton County School system early in her career. She was also an entrepreneur, owning "Beverly's" ladies clothing store in Atlanta, Georgia for many years, as well as consigning antiques at local businesses. Ms. Beverly ended her career at the Georgia Northwestern Technical College Adult Education Literacy department in 2013. She cherished every student during her tenure. Those who knew her and loved her will miss her greatly.
Beverly was a devout Christian and caregiver to her son, her father, and numerous pets over the years. An ardent protector of the rights and welfare of all animals, she owned several equines over the years and is survived by John the Mule.
Beverly believed that education and literacy was the keystone to unlocking your potential and that every student she had taught contained the potential to accomplish great things in their lifetime.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning, March 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Antioch Baptist Church, 1055 Old Highway 100, Waco, GA, 30182, with Rev. Jan Braeburn officiating. Beverly will be laid to rest beside her son, Gary Carden in the family section of Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery following the service.
Beverly will remain at the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home where her family will receive friends this (Friday) evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
