Betty Anne McGill, passed away on September 4, 2023, at Gordon Health & Rehab, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 1, 1931, in Staunton, VA.
After business school, Betty worked in the textile industry, moving up quickly from a stenographer to an executive administrative assistant. Her commitment and expertise in her field earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.
A lifelong Presbyterian, Betty found solace in spirituality and song. Her faith provided guidance and strength throughout her life. Among her many talents, Betty had a deep passion for sewing and quilting. Her skillful craftsmanship was inherited from her mother who was a professional seamstress, tailor and hatmaker. Betty’s skills were admired by those who were lucky enough to witness them firsthand. Each stitch was a testament to her love for her family. Betty’s warm-hearted personality endeared her to everyone she encountered. She radiated kindness and love towards all those around her. Her selflessness knew no bounds, as she always put the needs of others before herself.
Betty Anne is survived by her loving husband, James Millard McGill Jr., of Calhoun, GA; daughter, Beverly Niklasson and her husband Ron of Calhoun, GA; grandchildren, Kate Fisher and her husband Jonathan of Woodstock, GA; T.J. Niklasson and his wife Meghan of AZ; Christopher Kindon and his wife Sylvia of Braselton, GA; great-grandchildren Jordan Fisher, Kadence Fisher, Cecilia Niklasson, and Brooke Kindon. She is also survived by her special friend, caregiver, and nurse Janice Bagley, who she considered a daughter. Janice's unwavering support and care were a source of comfort to Betty during her final days. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Russell G. Strouble and Harriet Louise Matthews Strouble. She is also preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Cynthia Garrison.
To honor Betty’s memory and celebrate her life, visitation will take place on Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Salmon Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at the same location starting at 2:00 PM. A private burial will take place later at the Georgia National Cemetery.
Betty Anne McGill leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that will forever remain in our hearts. Her impact on the lives she touched is immeasurable. May her soul rest in eternal peace knowing that she made the world a better place through her kindness and compassion.
