Elizabeth Joan "Betty" Quinton, age 91, of Rome, GA, died Tuesday morning, May 06, 2014, in Fifth Avenue Healthcare facility.
Mrs. Quinton was born in Merrill, WI, on October 3, 1922, the daughter of the late August Denetz and Tillie Magnuson Denetz. She had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County for the greater part of her life, having lived for a period of time in Albertville, AL. Mrs. Quinton was a homemaker who loved cooking, taking care of her yard, playing card games, traveling and loving her cats. She was a member of the Oak Hill Church of Christ. Mrs. Quinton was married on April 17, 1948, to Harold Whitfield Quinton who preceded her in death on February 4, 2011.
Mrs. Quinton is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jeannie and Doug Cole of Columbus, GA; three sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Janice Quinton of Goldsboro, NC, Tommy and Mary Quinton of Big Sur, CA., and Danny and Marlene Quinton of Rome; Nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren: two brothers, Rod Denetz and Jimmy Denetz. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside and interment services for Mrs. Quinton will be held on Monday afternoon, May 12, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in Rome Memorial Park with Minister Joey Haynes officiating.
Mrs. Quinton will lay in-state in Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Monday from 12 noon until 1:30 p.m.
