Betty Jo Grizzard

Betty Jo Thacker Grizzard, age 76, of Hagerstown, Maryland and Alexandria, Virginia and a former Roman died on Thursday, October 1st, 2009 in Hagerstown.
A native of Floyd County, Georgia, Mrs. Grizzard was born on September 24th, 1933, the daughter of the late Marion W. and Georgie Mae Abernathy Thacker. Mrs. Grizzard had been a resident of Maryland and Virginia for the past 47 years. Mrs. Grizzard was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Alexandria and prior to her retirement, she served as a secretary for the Internal Revenue Service.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Cleek Grizzard, Sr. to whom she was married on March 16th, 1965 of Hagerstown, MD.; a daughter, Revonda Leigh Grizzard Montoya and her husband, Mark of Smithburg, MD; a son, Jack Cleek Grizzard, Jr. and his wife, Laura of Alexandria, VA.; 5 grandchildren, Nicole Alexandra Grizzard, Rachel Elizabeth Grizzard, Justin Michael Grizzard, Nicholas Jacob Montoya and Melanie Celeste Montoya; 5 sisters, Kathleen Thacker, Evelyn Bridges and Vicki Nicholson all of Rome, GA., Lillian Maxwell and Rita Mize both of McDonough, GA.; 4 brothers, Melvin and Jimmy Thacker both of Rome, GA., Clyde Thacker of Douglasville, GA. and Nathan Thacker of Cedar Bluff, Ala. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Betty Jo Thacker Grizzard will be held on Wednesday morning, October 7th, 2009 at 11 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Bert Brooks and Pastor Harold Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Grizzard will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends on Wednesday morning from 10 until 11 o'clock.
