Barbara Sue Kilgo, affectionately known as Bobbie, peacefully transitioned from this life on August 13, 2023, in Anderson, SC. She was born on November 5, 1936, to Robert M. Treglown and Bessie Florine Ware Treglown.
Bobbie's passion for flowers shone through her work as a florist. She delighted in creating beautiful arrangements that brought joy and comfort to others. Her talent for combining different blooms and colors was truly exceptional. Bobbie's creations effortlessly captured the essence of nature's beauty and brought smiles to countless faces. Beyond her professional pursuits, Bobbie was cherished for her loving nature and immense devotion to her family. As a wife to Ralph Hugo Kilgo, she built a strong foundation of love and support. Together they shared a bond that served as an inspiration to all who knew them. Throughout her life, Bobbie found immense joy in the company of her loved ones. She was always ready with a listening ear or comforting words whenever someone needed support. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she delighted in helping others in any way she could. She enjoyed serving as a Crossing Guard at Glenwood Elementary School.
Bobbie's education journey led her to graduation from Pepperell High School. During her time there, she had the distinct honor of being one of the first Majorettes in the school's history. In addition to being accomplished in her career and education, Bobbie nurtured a variety of hobbies and interests that brought further fulfillment to her life. A skilled cook, she delighted in preparing delicious meals for family and friends. Sports held a special place in her heart, with enthusiasm for teams such as the Georgia Bull Dawgs, Atlanta Braves, and the Falcons. During her high school years, Bobbie also displayed her athletic prowess through participation in basketball.
Bobbie will be dearly missed by her surviving family and friends. She is survived by her children; daughter, Mandy Smith and husband Ken of Townville, SC: son, Don Kilgo of Rome, GA; grandchildren, Misty Pledger and husband Brandon of Rome, GA, Cody Garrett of San Antonio, TX, Ali Kilgo of Rome, GA; great-grandchildren, Will Carpenter and wife Lauren, Kiley, Charlie Pledger, John Garrett; and a loving sister, Tiny Bennett. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph Hugo Kilgo; her parents and several brothers and sisters.
The celebration of Bobbie's life will take place at Salmon Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 16th at 10:00 AM. Following the service, a burial ceremony will be held at Rome Memorial Park located at 2446 Cedartown Highway in Rome, GA. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Tuesday, August 15th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Salmon Funeral Home.
