Barbara Janice Fowler

Barbara Janice Barton Fowler, age 74, of the Rosedale Community, passed away Sunday night, July 21, 2013 in a Rome Hospital.

A native of Floyd County, Mrs. Fowler was born on September 8, 1938, the daughter of the late Thomas Leonard Barton and the late Idell Miller Barton. Mrs. Fowler was a 1957 graduate of Armuchee High School and was a member of the Everett Springs Baptist Church. Mrs. Fowler resided in Chicago for 32 years moving back to Rome in 1997. For a period of time Mrs. Fowler was associated with Ferris Manufacturing as an inspector and prior to her retirement was associated with CVS of Rome. Mrs. Fowler was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Reverend Winston Barton and Morris Barton and by a step-son, Joe Fowler, Jr.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Fred Fowler, Sr. to whom she was married on August 8, 1965; a daughter and son-in-law, Belinda and John D'Arco of Downers Grove, Illinois; 2 grandsons, John D'Arco, Jr. and Joseph D'Arco; 2 step daughters, Donna Marsh of Alabama and Frances Wintermute of Illinois; 2 step-sons, Dan Fowler of Arizona and Randy Fowler of Alabama; 2 sisters, Delores Nance and her husband, Ron of Rome and Glenda Selman and her husband, Jimmy of Rome. Her pet companion, Sam. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Fowler will be held on Friday afternoon, July 26, 2013 at 2 o'clock in the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Dr. Wayne Hopper officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of East View Cemetery.

Mrs. Fowler will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Thursday) evening, July 25, 2013, beginning at 5 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.

Nephews will serve as active pallbearers.
